Nancy Purington has built her artistic career off of the beautiful Mississippi River. In our collection, we house many prints of her photographic works. These feature an absence of a horizon line, transforming the common landscape into an area of space, light, refraction, and shadow. While not all of Purington’s works are of the Mississippi itself, the mighty river and all its characteristics are featured strongly throughout her photographic and more abstract works. The Mississippi River is home to The Current, so it’s only fitting that Purington’s works are featured throughout our guest rooms. For more of Nancy’s work, and to see some of her abstracted paintings, follow the link below to her online gallery.

Fun Fact: The Current also owns one of Nancy’s abstract paintings, called Moonlight on the Mississippi; In the Dark. You can find this beautiful work outside of the Club Room on the 2nd floor!
